Jura’s Autumn newsletter 2022

The (current) newest member of the team, Jura is a 2021 baby. She’s a confident little girl, who loves to touch noses with you. Having arrived a beautiful “bronde” (brunette blonde) colour, now shorn, one of our darker alpacas with a very dark brown fleece. Jura would make a great guard animal as she’s mastering her warning sound and at the front of the herd when they explore what they believe may be a danger to them (it never usually is, sometimes it’s a wheelbarrow)

Watch Jura, along with Holly and Blossom get excited about new autumn grazing

Daily, Jura will find a leaf to decorate her face with - it’s her trademark look and we love it.

When we have visitors at the farm, you’ll often find Jura with the youngest one. She tends to choose her favourite person and stick with them.

She is one relaxed alpaca! At every opportunity, she will lay down and sunbathe and take a moment to herself.

Jura has a fascination for other animals; goats, chickens and cats are her favourite to stare at, sniff and chase.

Adopt Jura

If you adopt Jura, you’re not only getting yourself, or someone for a gift, a year long subscription to newsletters all about Jura and the farm, you’re supporting this small business and becoming a part of our journey. As well as this, some of the possibilities your adoption fee pays for and gives Jura are:

  • Feeds Jura special nutirents alpacas need for 1 year

  • Jura’s annual injection and any necessary parasite treatments

  • 3 fence repairs to keep Jura safe

  • 2 cans of petrol to help us maintain healthy pasture for Jura

  • 10 bales of hay, which will feed Jura for the duration of the adoption

  • 7 bags of carrots… which is too much for Jura to eat in a year, but given the chance, she would!

  • A paddling pool and hours of splash and cooling-down fun

  • 1 hour of walk training to make sure we could transport her in an emergency (but hopefully we won’t need to!)
